About Phyllis
Phyllis M. Rumore is a New York City based writer, who has had a variety of non-fiction works, including biographies, published in the past. As a featured poet at the Backfence in NYC's Greenwich Village, she read her poetry to a live audience every month and contributed to Village Poets, Anthology of 9/11 Poetry; published 2003 by Backfence Inc. She recently completed Rumors of the Mind; a collection of photography and poems. Her play Stored Lives, was produced off-off Broadway and directed by Jeffrey Stocker.
A Writer's Journey
Her passion for writing has always been a factor in her life as has her curiosity, which saw her studying Chemistry and Mathematics in college and grad school. Unfortunately there were not many job opportunities when she completed her studies and so she began her working life as a secretary for a major bank. She didn't remain long in that position as she was promoted quickly and soon focused her career in financial trading software development as a Business Analyst and on occasion as a Project Manager specializing in foreign exchange, commodities and related topics such as back office and accounting.
It was while she was working in the Wall Street area that she met her first source. As time progressed she met more individuals and the story based on their lives, as they told them to her, developed. The characters in her first self-published project, The Dragon Within His Shadow, are all composites of these fascinating men and women.
